OCI Card Help in Surrey
Applying for an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card can be confusing — the online form, the photo and signature rules, and the supporting documents. Surrey Speaks volunteers help residents fill in and check OCI applications, with no service fees, in Punjabi, Hindi or English.
What we can help with
- New OCI card for adults and children, including children born in Canada
- OCI updates and re-issue — for example after you get a new passport, if required
- Changing details on your OCI (address, name or marital status)
- Replacing a lost or damaged OCI card
- Checking photos, signatures and documents before you submit
- Preparing for your appointment at the official service centre

What to have ready
- Your current passport, and your old passport if you have it

- Proof of your address in Canada
- A recent photo that meets the OCI size rules
- For children: birth certificate and both parents’ passports or OCI cards
Good to know
- There are no service fees for our help. Government and service-centre fees are paid by you directly to the official office — never to us.
- Only the Government of India decides on OCI applications.
- Use only the official Government of India website — we will show you the right one and help you avoid unofficial sites that charge extra.
Common questions
Do you charge anything?
No. There are no service fees for our help. You only pay the official fees, directly to the official office.
Can you help if my child was born in Canada?
Yes. OCI applications for children born in Canada are one of the most common requests we help with.
How long does an OCI card take?
Processing time is set by the Government of India and can take several weeks or longer. We help you apply correctly the first time to avoid delays.
